Ennis Public Realm Regeneration Construction Works - Public Information Evening
Clare County Council invites you to a Public Information Evening at the Civic Room, Buttermarket Building, Drumbiggle Road, Ennis, V95RR72, from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, 13th September, in advance of commencement of the Public Realm Regeneration project works at Ennis town centre.
A funding allocation totalling €8,576,920 has been approved for this exciting project which follows the successful delivery of significant public realm enhancements at Parnell Street, and bow-ways in 2020 and 2021.
Clare County Council is delighted to advise that a main contractor has been appointed, and it is envisaged that works will commence this Autumn. The works will be completed on a phased basis to minimise disruption during the construction period, and every effort will be made to mitigate disturbance to normal activity in the town centre. It is hoped that all will consider that the longer-term benefits will outweigh the shorter-term disruption and the project team are available at Council offices to discuss any particular issues or concerns that the public may have in this regard.
Barrack Square and Old Barrack Street will be developed as a ‘café quarter’ which is proposed to deliver a higher-quality streetscape encouraging people to meet, relax and avail of local retail. O’Connell Square, High Street and O’Connell Street will become more attractive to pedestrians through the delivery of an expanded plaza incorporating universally accessible pavements, street trees, an interactive public fountain and re-designed civic spaces.
